October 2012: Workplace pension reforms. Will you be ready?

The legislation is a result of increasing concerns over how the UK can continue to fund the needs of an ageing population.  The Government estimates that up to 7 million people are not saving enough to give them the retirement income they expect. To address this problem they are introducing compulsory workplace pensions from October 2012 involving auto-enrolment and a new pension scheme – National Employment Savings Trust (NEST).  The workplace pension reforms aim to help facilitate a culture of pension saving and compel more people to take responsibility for their future.
